Steven R. Pottle: 

Steve Pottle is the Founder of Haywood Dorland Energy Capital and has more than 20 years of commercial and investment banking experience within all sectors of the energy industry. He has held senior level energy banking positions at some of the world’s leading financial institutions, including:


  1. UBS - NY, Dallas & Los Angeles

  2. The Industrial Bank of Japan

  3. Deutsche Bank Securities - Investment Banking

  4. Commerzbank - Energy Project Finance

  5. HSH Nordbank - Energy Structured Finance


Mr. Pottle also served as the Vice President of Business Planning at Sithe Energies, at one time the largest independent power producer in the United States. While at Sithe, he was responsible for directing a two-year, company-wide project focussed on building a large energy commodity trading platform (power, fuel oil and natural gas). Experience includes setting up trading books, calculating mark-to-market values and value at risk, entering trades,  portfolio stress testing, etc.


Mr. Pottle has participated in, structured and / or led hundreds of project and corporate energy transactions over the course of his career.  The majority of these were in the oil and gas industry and have amounted to many billions of dollars in total. His focus has been both project and corporate finance.


He is also a member of the Houston Producer’s Forum and has spoken at industry conferences sponsored by IPAMS. While working as the head of oil and gas investment banking at Deutsche Bank Securities, he held a Series 7 Securities license.


Haywood Dorland Energy Capital (“HDEC”)
